Grammudda

Artist’s Statement:
“Grammudda” is an acrylic marker on paper piece inspired by the artist’s childhood memories of her grandmother’s ‘bottom house’ growing up in Guyana. It transposes typical Caribbean elements onto a whimsical wall-paper-like setting, highlighting the playful nostalgia of this yard space.

Nastassia Rambarran (she/her) is a Guyanese-Barbadian researcher, activist, and writer. Working primarily in collage and mixed media craft, her art practice applies a decolonial lens to material memory, with attention to the intersections of gender, ethnicity, and sexuality.
