Chinyere Brown

Mother May I, May I Mother?

Chinyere Brown is a Caribbean mixed-media artist and decolonial feminist researcher working primarily with ink, beads, clay, and paper. Their practice explores gender, race, and class justice, drawing on their Trinidadian, Jamaican, and Guyanese upbringing and the diverse histories, landscapes, and relationships that shape them. Brown has participated in the Whistle Space Residency (Massachusetts) and exhibited in When Rivers Meet, the Africa Film Festival Art Exhibition, CAISO’s Annual Art Exhibition, and the Black Feminist Visual Art Display. Their interdisciplinary practice has extended to theatre, creating backdrops for The Wiz and For Colored Girls. Follow @chinyereart and chinyereart.com for more.
