ANMLY #39 :: Nonfiction

Featured in this folio:

“What is art? Art is what you make of it. Are we art? Yes, we are made. Is
art art?”
—Rachel Paris Wimer, Inside>Outside

Welcome to the Nonfiction section of our publication, particularly during these still
turbulent times. It is always a delight and a privilege to dive into the remarkable
submissions we receive. As is often the case, selecting the final pieces has not been easy
due to the outstanding quality of the works and our commitment to showcasing a diverse
range of themes, motifs and personal narratives.

While Ekphrasis is typically linked to poetry—such as John Keats’ famous “Ode to a
Grecian Urn”—it has somehow organically emerged from the nonfiction landscape in this
issue. You can look forward to essays inspired by various art forms, including music,
film, and photography, as well as explorations of wordplay, grief, and the scientific
method.

We are grateful to our authors for their confidence in us and for infusing their work with
creativity, truly capturing the spirit of Creative Nonfiction at its best. We hope you find
as much joy and comfort in reading and connecting with their stories as we did in
curating this collection.
